Bursaries & Funding

Nurse/AHP funding to attend International Meetings

The SSR will allocate up to 2 bursaries per year, up to a value of £1000 each, for AHPs to present original work at international meetings such as EULAR or ACR.  Rheumatology trainees may be eligible for a bursary but will need to be able to demonstrate they have been unsuccessful in being granted adequate funding from elsewhere including any local study leave budget.

Applications will be considered at biannual SSR Council meetings held in February and August each year. These should be supported with a copy of the abstract and details of the costs to attend the meeting with receipts if available.

Nurse/ AHP bursaries to attend courses or local Meetings

We have up to £3000 available annually for funding for nurses or AHPs to attend courses or local meetings. Rheumatology trainees may be eligible for a bursary but will need to be able to demonstrate they have been unsuccessful in being granted adequate funding from elsewhere including any local study leave budget. Grants are not made to support the costs of postgraduate degrees or other postgraduate qualifications.

Only 1 application per applicant will be considered annually up to a maximum of £500. Applications should be supported by your line manager or project supervisor. Local funding should be applied for initially before applying for SSR funding. Applicants are encouraged to pursue diverse educational opportunities, and as such applications for the same event in 2 concurrent years will not be considered. If there is competition for funding, priority will be given to those who (1) are presenting at the meeting (2) did not receive a bursary in the previous year.

Applications will be considered at biannual SSR Council meetings held in February and August each year. These should be supported with a copy of the abstract (if submitted) and details of the costs to attend the meeting with receipts if available.
